What resolution is best for a GoPro hero 4 silver?

I just bought a GoPro hero 4 silver. One thing I'm very confused about it which resolution is best. I'm going on a Caribbean vacation in a few days and want to have the best quality videos I can get. I'll mostly just be going on snorkeling tours and staying at the resort… 1080 looks pretty good, I'm just confused about which fps would look best with it. I've tried to compare the videos on different resolutions, but sadly, they all look the same to me (I am nowhere near a camera person). Also - since I'm going to be at the beach, should I turn Protune off or on?
