Should i get a new lens or the gopro hero 4 silver?

My one year anniversary with my boyfriend is coming up in May. I cant decide whether or not i should get a new lens for his rebel t3i camera or if i should get him the gopro hero 4 silver. Both are around the same price range. Some advice would be much appreciated!
