Why does my GoPro stop recording on it's own?

So basically, I just bought a GoPro Hero 3+ silver to record my riding times. I took it out today and it keeps stopping the recording on it's own at random intervals, mostly between 1 and 2 minutes. Hen when I got home and sat it on my bench in the same case/strap etc, it recorded for over 5 minutes until i stopped. So, why does my GoPro stop recording repeatedly when I'm riding, but when it sits on my bench its fine?
