Does anyone know a descent paid video converter/editor?

when i get home after using my GoPro cam on my motorcycle i have to clip the video, i currently use avs video converter but the quality of the video is a bit rubbish once i have done it. Weird thing is when i use avs to convert blu ray and dvd's the quality is brilliant but when i convert the GoPro video the quality is cheap looking and grainy. Weird thanks
