I bought a manufacturer refurbished GoPro, is it new or used?

listed by GoPro as "Refurbished" i assumed it would be a used camera that i would receive. However the camera seems brand new, there are no markings on it and it even smells new. So the question is, does GoPro sell older model cameras still in stock as refurbished? Is this actually a new camera? Thanks!
