Would I be considered lazy or people are just jealous of me?
I gave up reaching my high expectation back in my college years because every time I have high expectation, it always bring me down. I decided to change myself and just do things on what I am capable of. Living in an Asian family is hard too because my parents and grandparents wanted me to become rich and have a better future. My life now is good, I work in a wealthy company, GoPro, but I do not have anything like what everyone else have. Like they all work their *** off to drive a BMW or a McLaren, I drive a Subaru Impreza and I like it. Everyone else lives in a very expensive apartment or condos, I live in a studio apartment in a hipster neighborhood. I dont mind my lifestyle, but everyone including my family treat me low. I know they are a bunch of stuck up, but sometimes I wonder if I considered myself a lazy person because I dont work very hard, I just simply do the work to the project's expectation. Every time people talk to me about what they have, like one of my coworker says he got a Rolex, I would just say "oh" I like my G-Shock watch, then he would look me down or brag about his watch. My mom kept telling me that her friend's son graduated from Yale and works at Facebook, he is a millionaire now. I am not interested in programming as they expect me to be. I am fine with my job, I get to test the quality of the image and engineer to make it better, sometimes go outside in nature to test them. I sometimes feel like, my mom wants me to work in cubicles.
