GoPro footage is gone, Where is it?

So, I had very important GoPro footage on my camera and when I put my sim card in my laptop and a notification came up informing me that the data is being imported. Then it deleted all the footage from the sim card. Now I CANNOT find the footage… Anywhere. How do I go about finding this lost footage?
