How much Graphics Card Ram do I really need for video editing?

I'm buying a laptop right now for college and I've finally settled on the Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition.

But, I'm having a hard time right now deciding which version to get based on specs. I would be using the computer for editing video (and very very occasionally 4k from a GoPro), light gaming, and doing other stuff of college nature - so I like power.

The second version has 4000mb Graphics Card Ram and only a regular dvd player. (I think there are other differences but these were the ones that stood out)

I know alot of people don't care about the player but I like to watch movies and I'd rather not spend another 70 bucks buying an external blu-ray drive.

The cost isn't a factor (I think it is the same anyway), but overall speed is. I don't know if the larger graphics card is mainly for the gaming side or if it would better my overall editing time by a huge factor (i.e. Something takes 3 hours to render vs 7 hours, 5 minutes vs 20 minutes).
