High Altitude Ballooning with a GoPro advice?

I'm doing a project for school and we are sending a high altitude balloon up. We are using a GoPro Hero 3+ to film a series of experiments we will be testing. We want to film at at least 1080/30 RES/FPS but more would be better.

It's my job to figure out how much external power we need to provide the GoPro with. I know that the GoPro battery itself lasts an hour and a half or less (varying depending on what RES/FPS you use). I've done a lot of research but keep coming up with conflicting answers or answers that don't provide the required life span (at least 4 hours).

I need to know how much power to supply the GoPro with on top of its battery. We don't want to use a GoPro Backpac because they are expensive and don't quite provide the lifespan we need.

How many volts should we supply the GoPro with? Would 3 AA batteries work? How would they be wired (series or parallel)? Would a 9v battery with a 5v regulator work? Is there another solution?

Please try to provide sources.
