I'm trying to design a CCTV system for a project, and I need a camera which can see as far as at least 30m. When I check the specs of the camera it doesn't explicitly say how far the camera can see, just the focal length (and sometimes the angle of viewing) and the sensor size. Is there a way for me to find out how far my camera can see? Or should I just assume that the camera can view absurdly far?

Added (1). Edit: I'm supposed to set up cameras to watch over rooms, not a specific object.
