I know the answer almost completely depends on what I plan to use the camera for but I'm still not sure about which one to get.
On one hand I'm considering getting a GoPro because my grandparents live on a lake and I love shooting there and I could do a lot interesting things with it without really having to worry about water or dirt damage. Also I go to film school so during the school year I can take out a Canon 60D and any other equipment I'll need for 24 hour chunks of time. Even though it's not very convenient I'll still have access to everything I need for nothing out of pocket.
On the other hand, getting a Dslr is probably smarter because it'll be better/more useful in the long run. They are considered more professional than GoPro's and are arguably more versatile depending on what you're trying to do with them. However, I am a college student so budget is also a pretty big factor. I'm definitely looking for a refurbished Canon (I'm not sure yet but I'm considering the 60D, 7D, and the 5D Mark ii if I manage to find a really good price).
I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you might have!
