Should i buy a GoPro Hero 3?

I'm a teenage boy who cycles nearly every day on my race bike, and was interested in buying an action camera for my travels, and also for just messing around in the nearby river for the duration of the summer. I currently have a fantastic Canon camera that i bought last year, but i would never bring it with me due to fear i would drop the large camera.

So lately i have been looking at the GoPro Hero 3, a relatively low priced camera that i can just about afford without totally breaking the bank. It seems good, and reviews are GENERALLY good, but i keep seeing the same thing over and over, and that's how the Camera can sometimes be quite faulty and might not work well out of the box. So you can see why I'm a little slow to buy.

So has anyone any experiences with the GoPro? Should i just buy one and get it over with?
